Standardized Test Preparation in Rome

Why is the SAT making a comeback?

The short answer is : because it works. As a student applying from a high school with its own specificities and grading, having a standard test to demonstrate your abilities is what will enable the university to contextualize those grades and ensure a fair comparison of applicants.

Why is it a good thing? Because, beyond a simple multiple-choice exam, the SAT ascertains your level of preparedness for college. Contrary to popular belief it is not an IQ test and there are many real ways your can improve your scores with preparation. But the language, logical, and reasoning skills it tests for are essential to your ability to be a good college student and adapt well to your university environment. SAT prep doesn’t just help you get into college, it prepares you for it.

After several years of test-optional policies, many schools across the world are reimplementing standardized testing requirements. Whether during in-person or online sessions, individuals or group classes, our dedicated team uses its many years of experience to adapt to the needs of individual students. Students work with tutors on developing study plans, learning testing strategies, and reviewing the key concepts that are essential to obtaining high scores.

This SAT Preparation Course is designed for students who want to jumpstart their college profiles. Whether they are looking to attend university in the US, apply to Bocconi/Luiss, or simply explore their academic options, the SAT offers a fantastic opportunity to demonstrate their ability to admissions teams.

During our years of experience, we have seen students improve their critical reasoning skills, pattern recognition abilities, and exam accuracy through detailed reviews of key concepts and disciplined practice. We are confident that students who attend this course will develop skills that will not only assist them on the SAT but will also serve them well in both their academic and professional careers.

Before the first class, students will complete a diagnostic exam, which will help us identify clear areas for improvement and tailor lesson plans. Classes will then meet daily for intensive courses or weekly for year-round courses, and focus on specific topics (such as transitions or support for an argument for the Reading and Writing section, and geometry or algebra for the Math section).

Outside of class, students will work on problem sets for each key topic. Additionally, we will assign short stories by common SAT authors (London, Crane, Melville, etc) to increase students’ confidence with SAT style passages. Students will periodically complete practice tests that simulate test conditions and allow me to track their progress.

Following the end of the course, we will meet individually with students to review their progress and establish plans for further preparation throughout the schoolyear or summer vacation.
